Description

Respiratory Technician required for Immediate Start for 6 month contract in Donegal. Ideal candidates would have experience working within a Respiratory Laboratory. Professional / Clinical/Managerial. Responsibility for the management and organisation of the Respiratory and Sleep Investigations Department on a daily basis. Perform an extensive range of basic to complex lung function and sleep investigations, including providing a full technical analysis and report of results for medical staff, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of these patients. -Spirometry. -Flow Volume Loops. -Reversibility tests. -Lung volumes by Gas Dilution Methods. -Lung Volume by Body Plethysmography. -Diffusion capacity. -Tests of respiratory muscle function - MIP and MEP. - Fitness to Fly Assessment. -Oxygen saturation by Pulse Oximetry. -Limited Sleep Studies. -Skin allergy testing. -Therapy with noninvasive ventilation. -CPAP and Bilevel therapy and others. Responsible for the supervision, upkeep, calibration, maintenance and overall care of the equipment in the department, therefore ensuring quality assurance. Adhere to strict infection control policies. Sterilise and disinfect all equipment according to manufacturers’ recommendations and in conjunction with infection control policies in the hospital. Communicate daily with consultants, doctors, other healthcare professionals and patients in order to explain complex test procedures and results. Attend to hospital mandatory training and other relevant courses in order to implement the necessary policies and procedures ensuring health and safety in the workplace. Assist with coordination of department audit, research and pilot projects as required. Responsibilities include maintenance of adequate stock control and ordering of consumables and any other material needed on Lab. Have the ability and capability to diagnosis equipment problems, ensuring the appropriate pathway to achieve resolution of any problem. Liaising with clerical support to co-ordinate of outpatient appointments scheduling and prioritization of inpatients scheduling for all services within the department. Be proficient at using a variety of software equipment for lung function and sleep investigations. Assist in the education and training of medical students, trainee doctors, respiratory nurse specialists and respiratory physiotherapist. Have the ability to work as part of a team and yet work with complete autonomy and make the decisions required for the running of the service. Candidates must have at the latest date of application: (i) Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of. Technology or equivalent as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical. Measurement Science (IICMS. Or. (ii) Possess the Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological.
